With each passing day, earth’s pollution is increasing. Global warming is rising, and plastic waste is growing. But, we humans are still not bothered. I consider our species as The Most Destructive Species on the planet. We have been in existence for less than 1% of life on Earth and in this short time of our existence, we have impacted everything. We have disturbed the life of every other species and have degraded every corner of the world. In the name of ‘development’, we are destroying our planet. We are cutting trees recklessly, and setting up industries, whose waste disposal causes air and water pollution. We are doing things without considering their consequences. Below, I list the many ideas to save Earth, from the onslaught of human callousness:
Be the Change!
Firstly to be able to save earth, we need to change our mentality. Whenever someone tries to bring a change or works for the betterment of the society, we discourage them and point out the futility of their efforts. But we need to understand that, if we do not start putting an effort, then no one else will. And when millions of individuals will put in an effort, then their combined effort will have surely bring a change.
Hug a Tree
We are running short of essential things like fresh air and clean water. Plant more and more trees, and stop deforestation, to maintain proper supply of oxygen. Save trees by reusing and recycling paper. Use water only when utmost essential, and check that water is not wasted through leakage.
Fossil fuels like Coal cannot be regenerated. So, we need to use them judiciously. Moreover, whenever we use them we invite a bunch of problems. Their use releases Carbon emissions, which is the major cause of global warming. Their burning can also release chemicals which cause air pollution. So, it will be a wise move to replace these fossil fuels with renewable resources like solar and wind energy, which are not only eco-friendly, but also cheaper in the long run. Do small things like walking to nearby places, car pooling and using public transportation. Electric cars can be the replace current cars running on fossil fuels.
Plastic, which appeared to be a boon at the time of its invention, has now converted into a bane. Generally, plastic is non biodegradable, and its disposal has become a major concern. Every square mile of ocean has 46,000 pieces of plastics floating in it and this plastic can harm the aquatic life. Besides oceans, large plastic dumps have been created. Reduce, reuse and recycle your plastic. Carry a jute bag wherever you go. Do not take plastic bags from shopkeepers. Find creative ways to reuse plastic and organize campaigns to raise awareness.
We should realize that we have not inherited the planet from our ancestors but borrowed it from our future generations. A small effort now might be enough to save the planet. But, if we do not change our lifestyle today, then the end of the planet, as we know it, is around the corner.
